Kayaking

Monroe County is home to the Little Muskingum River and Sunfish Creek.  The Little Muskingum River winds through Monroe and Washington County Ohio on its way down to the Ohio River, passing by all sorts of nature scenery and a few covered bridges. It is a seasonal paddle, often too low to paddle in the summer, unless you go right after a rain. Sunfish Creek is a great kayak adventure that is only able to be accomplished in times of higher water flow.  It is a very scenic route with numerous rock formations and twist and turns. It can be a little dangerous (Class II) with some white water during higher water volume times.
